I have completely revamped my T-Shirt business over the past week. The reason why I have is because I decided to turn my business into a niche business. This means, instead of having multiple kinds of shirts such as music, gaming, pop culture, etc. ones, I’ve decided to keep just one kind of shirt; gaming. I chose to do this for a few reasons. Through experimentation and monitoring my store’s progress, I was getting attention and sales only from my gaming shirts. To narrow down profit, I just decided to keep my gamer shirts and ditch my other designs for another day. (I don’t know yet what I’ll do with them. I’ll probably put them into a basic shop and see what happens.)

One of the biggest changes you’ll  notice is the name. I’ve changed it from YoYo’s Creations, to Gaming Creations. How more specific can you get? = P I’ve always created a logo this time that I’ve put up on www.DeviantArt.com, along with my T-Shirt designs. Look to the top of this post and you will see the logo I concocted. (If you don’t know what www.DeviantArt.com is, I’ll talk about it another day but to give a basic jist, it’s a website to post artwork for other artists to nice. It’s nice for graphic designers and whatnot so you can kind of ’spread the word’ on whatever you’re doing.)

I’ve also revamped some of my designs and made a new one today.

New Design for Saving the World This link (opens in new window) will show you the front and back for my new revamped design. I initially designed it for coloured shirts, but Cafepress only offers the front and back designs for white T-shirts. So I just have to make due with the white. Then again, if I put a front and back image on a coloured shirt, it would automatically go up $3 in price because it costs an extra $3 to add a back image, so maybe it’s a good thing considering my target market.

Here is my completely new design called Aim Here. (Opens in new window) I don’t completely care for how it looks on the coloured designs, but I know it has great potential so I’m keeping it how it is. If you do go on Gaming Creations, you will notice I’ve also tagged the design on a hat and long t-shirt. I don’t care for how it looks on the long t-shirt, but I think my ultimate solution will be to change the graphic background from grey to either a dark red, blue or even green. I haven’t decided yet.

As far as all of that goes, those are my only changes other than organizational and tempalte ones. Those are the most obvious if you’ve taken a look at my store a while back. Hopefully with all this revamping I will begin to make more profit than I am. Right now I’m in the negative in turns of profit covering expenses, but I am positive this will change once I start my poster marketing campaign. I am also thinking about putting adds on Facebook because that would narrow down to my target market even more.

I have just added a new T-Shirt design!

Inspiration: My little brothers love to play video games online and I thought it was really funny that they had little expressions on top of their heads (in the game). Getting this idea, I decided to make it into a t-shirt and figured all the nerdy (including mysef) could enjoy some video game references.

I’ve decided to expand my business a little more. Fundraisers are always fun and very helpful for non-profits and communities alike. I am always very supportive of Fundraisers; I always make sure I have change for UNICEF or St. Jude’s. What I want to do now is making it easier for organizations to raise money by being able to offer a Fundraiser discount.

Let me explain a little bit about the pricing process I use with CafePress.com. The company shows me what the T-Shirt design costs at a whole sale price. Now I take that whole sale price and multiply 15%. That’s my markup percentage. So for each shirt I’m making no more than about $2. CafePress.com offers an amazing discount for bulk items. The buyer receives a 35% off each individual item off their whole sale if they purchase at least 15 or more of the product. So take for example a very generic plain white T. Normally, whole sale is $14.99 (retail would be $16.99). Just multiply 14.99 by 35% and you get roughly $5.24. $14.99 - $5.24 = $9.75.

Of course, in addition to $9.75, the customer will have to pay for shipping, but with fundraisers I’ve seen the shirts go all the way up to $15. Depending on how well I know the foundation, I would be willing to pay $15. Usually, with the Breast Cancer Foundation, shirts on campus cost around $12. So not bad.

Unfortunately the organization has to have a bit of money in order to raise money. I have not yet resolved this situation other than actual donation, but I’m working on that. This works the same way with Krispy Kreme donuts too. You need to buy I think around $75 worth of donuts, minimum, and you just go out and sell the donuts at whatever additional markup percentage you want. It’s really a great way to raise money because those donuts are so darn good. = )

I remember in high school we would do Fay’s Barbeques. Fay’s BBQ was this company that went to organizations and bbq’ed for the basically. You would sell meal tickets for I think between $9-$12 and you would take these tickets on the night of the BBQ and you would redeem it for food. The food was always AMAZING so it brought it a lot of locals. A portion of the proceeds was also donated to the organization that was sponsoring it. That was always a great way to raise money where I’m from.

There are many other ways to raise money. Take for example you are apart of a soccer team trying to fix up your field. Let’s say you guys really need a new fence. Well, go around to businesses and say “We need money to build a new fence, so if you would like to contribute this much money we will give your advertisement space on our fence when it’s build.” You can open this offer up to multiple businesses if you want and it’s a really great way to get those important things like fences. You put no money down and you gain a fence. It’s a sweet deal.

As many of you may know, but about a week ago I started an online business called YoYo’s Creations. Well today I’ve made my first sale!! Granted, I’ve set it up where I have a profit margin of about $2-$3 to keep the shirts cheap, but it’s a start.

So far I have four designs:

I know guys, I know, only one sale and I only made $2. Hey….it’s going in the right direction and I didn’t put any money into my business in the first place. It’s a start!!

I have come to announce the opening of YoYo’s Creations!! An online web business where you can buy cool (of course I think they’re cool, I designed them = P) T-Shirt designs and/or make your own T-Shirts for your organization or club. I’ve started this company as a way try to build a means of passive income and exercise my creative abilities.

If you’d like to find out exactly what I’m doing, I’m going to write a post on the online T-Shirt Biz hopefully by the end of this weekend. Check it out though and get a feel for it yourself. I’ve opened up shop at absolutely no cost at all so this is true passive income for the time being.
