Nerd’s Creations and Facebook
I’m trying a new method of promotion for Nerd’s Creations. I’ve been reading a bit about Web 2.0 and the Social Marketing concept. Since I have a personal Facebook page, I decided to Create a Page for Nerd’s Creations.
I made it yesterday and have been playing around with it since then. I really like the idea of it because there is so much you can do and play around with the possibilities are endless. When you go on www.Facebook.com, and click to see your pages, you’re sent directly to a page showing your page views. Just yesterday I had seven clicks and I didn’t send out announcements or anything. Facebook users just happened to find my Facebook Page.
On your page, you have default applications that you can use. For example, you have applications such as your Wall, Notes, Reviews, Photos and Videos. You are not limited to these either. You can also add other applications that were developed by Facebook and third party groups. Say for example you own a restaurant, you can add an application that allows customers to make orders online. I unfortunately have not been able to find any applications that deal with my industry, but this is only my second day so I’ll keep going. If you can’t find any that are helpful for you, Facebook allows you to upload your own application for use. I don’t know the process of submitting your own application, but I do know it’s possible.
They also offer Facebook Ads. It seems you can target your customers very well with all of the Facebook Ads options, but I have never put up an ad myself. Last year I had thought of putting up my own ad, but I do not feel that I am ready to put ads up. I want to learn more about marketing before I spend money for ads. I’m still trying to work with SEO techniques, so putting up ads will be something I do much later on.
So overall, I’d say it would be a good idea to just give it a go. I’ll be updating my progress to see if it is worth it or not. I’m convinced though that done the right way with enough persistence you will be able to find many new customers, so I’m just going to keep up with this.
Take it easy!
